THE BANK OTEL ISTANBUL
Yılmaz Ulusoy Holding Inc. aims at purchasing historic buildings in and around Beyoğlu, renovating them into hotels and thus creating a special tourism brand. In this respect, the project of opening of five boutique hotels until the year 2015 has been put into practice. The first step for the Boutique Hotel Chain Project is taken with the purchase of the Historical Sümerbank Building in Karaköy.
A most substantial building on Bankalar Street, the Historical Sümerbank Building was built in 1867 by the Istanbul-born Italian architect Antoine Tedeschi in neo-Renaissance style. It has been the house of Crédit Général Ottoman, Deutsche Bank, and Sümerbank respectively. Following its purchase by Yılmaz Ulusoy Holding in 2010, the restoration and restitution works of the building started under the guidance of Mimar Han Tümertekin, within the scope of the “Sümerbank Boutique Hotel” project.
The Sümerbank Building is a first-degree historical monument and because of its location has an amazing panorama of the Galata. There are 63 rooms in the building inclusive. In addition to gourmet restaurants, there is a special wine cave in the building. Social facilities, a gym and a spa center are also included. The giant historical safes in the ground and the basement floors have been preserved in order to enrich the architectural wealth of the structure.
